
HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made a surprise visit to the Brunei International Airport's Air Traffic control tower in a bid to find out more about the recent Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Bell 212 helicopter carsh incident.
The Monarch arrived around 11am where he was greeted by the Minister of Communication YB Pehin Orang kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, Permanent Secretary (Media and cabinet) at the Prime Minister's Office Pg Hj Abd haris Pg Hj Shabudin as well as officers and staff under Air Traffic Control Section.
His Majesty proceeded to the control tower where he spoke with the officers on duty as well as those on duty at the time of the incident, piecing together a better understanding on the events of 20 July 2012 when the incident happened.
He then made his way to another section of the tower where he asked for more details from the officers present at their working stations.
His Majesty later departed the Air Traffic Control Tower to make his way to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) hospital where he visited ward 10, holding two of the survivors.
The monarch was welcomed by Minister of Health YB Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof upon his arrival at the hospital while patients and visitors greeted him as he departed after his short visit.
