History of CASS
At the 33rd Session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) assembly in 2001 Brunei Darussalam declared its clear position against terrorism, condemned all acts of unlawful interference against civil aviation.
Brunei Darussalam through CASS continues to intensify aviation security enhancement geared at achieving full implementation and enforcement of the ICAO Security Conventions to meet the requirements set by ICAO standards and recommended.
Established in 2006 this section currently regulates the security of Brunei International Airport, Cargo Facility, airlines, ground handlers, temporary and permanent identification passes.
Function of CASS
Regulate screening requirements and certification of X-Ray Screeners.
Regulate National Civil Aviation Security Programme.
National Quality Control Programme Development.
Aviation Security Legislations.
ICAO Mandatory Audit Programme.
Coordination of activities related to National Aviation Security with department agencies.
Human resource development of airport staff in the field of security

" To ensure standardized level of security for effective protection and safeguarding passengers, crew, ground personnel, the traveling public, aircraft, airport and air navigation facilities and in meeting the requirements of ICAO SARPS, during normal operating conditions and capable of a rapid response to meet any increased security threat".
